Luther Burbank was a horticulturist who once said “I shall be content if because of me there shall be better fruits and fairer flowers.” In the end he did improve hundreds of plants by creating hybrids which were less susceptible to diseases and more productive. I visited his home and garden in Santa Rosa, CA where he moved after realizing that his native state of Massachusetts was not the greatest place to experiment with plants all year round.
